Silk Stream

Woodland

How I loved to climb a tree,
To sit up the top of my leafy palace,
Queen of my glorious woodland,
A magical faery world.
A stream ran rippling through the wood,
Steeply banked and deeply pooled,
Bordered with flowers according to their season.
Windflowers, celandines starred the banks with Spring
And my memory with enchantment.

Beauty

Here is a magnificent lopped tree right beside a main road. How beautiful it is against the sky.

Views Of The Wood

It is most pleasant having a wood at the end of the garden, specially as we live in London and we need something to remind us of the countryside. I love trees. They are so splendid. I must write a poem about trees!

A Fox On Our Lawn

This is a sight we did not see until a few years ago! Now we have them in a wood which has developed just behind our garden. Although they are considered a pest I can't help enjoying having the opportunity of seeing them.

I have decided I must re read the Anglo Saxon Chronicles. My memory needs refreshing. I wish I could read them in Old English.

Part of the glory of trees

This is the Winter lopped tree outside our house. What a contrast to the lovely, golden leafed tree of the Autumn. Give it another month or two and it will be leaf covered again. Trees need care and lopping is part of it. Even newly lopped it has its own stark beauty against that splendid blue sky.
